The programme has been designed to produce competent personnel that effectively manage recorded information in an ever-changing environment in print, electronic and hybrid environment. Graduates for this degree programme will find employment in all government offices, institutions, libraries, media institutions, archival institutions and information and documentation centers. The programme is available in the College of Natural and Applied Science (CoNAS) under the Department of Informatics and Information Technology (DIIT). It is delivered only on a full-time basis for a minimum duration of 3 years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4 align=\"justify\"><span id=\"Expected_Learning_Outcomes\"><span style=\"color: #008000\">Expected Learning Outcomes<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">At the end of the programme, the candidate should be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"text-align-justify\">Describe scientific principles and practices applicable to information and records management activities.<\/li>\n<li class=\"text-align-justify\">Organize different information and record formats under the internationally recognized standards<\/li>\n<li class=\"text-align-justify\">Apply knowledge management concepts and strategies to address various forms of information and records management practices<\/li>\n<li class=\"text-align-justify\">Classify different information facilities (libraries, information centres, documentation centres, record centres, archives etc) and be able to manage their day-to-day activities<\/li>\n<li class=\"text-align-justify\">Solve information and records management problems by effective utilization of principles of information management and records administration<\/li>\n<li class=\"text-align-justify\">Identify appropriate ICTs and use them effectively to manage information and to administer records in various organizations<\/li>\n<li class=\"text-align-justify\">Identify business opportunities in information and records management activities and articulate them as employment opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><em><strong>Here, we groom information records and data managers.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span id=\"Career_Opportunities\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #008000\">Career Opportunities<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Graduates of this degree programme work as records managers, knowledge managers, science communicators, archivists, librarians and information managers. They will also work as information brokers, content writers and editors, trainers in the information science field, researchers in the field and social media analysts. Prospective employees include libraries, archives, records centers, registries, news houses, publishers and other content developers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 align=\"justify\"><span id=\"Admission_Requirements\"><span style=\"color: #008000\">Admission Requirements<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #1e1e1e;font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Two principal passes (4 points) in the following subjects: History, Kiswahili, English, Economics, Accountancy, Nutrition, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography or Agriculture. OR Diploma in Record Achieves Management, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, or Library and Information studies OR Information and Communication Technology with an average of \u201cB\u201d or a minimum GPA of 3.0.
