Three staff from SUA, Ms. Catherine Mangare, Dr. Hadijah Mbwana and Ms. Rehema Mwawado, are attending the Innovative Summer School in Rabat, Morocco, which is aimed at empowering African women in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The three staff are from the Department of Informatics and Information Technology<\/a>, Department of Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences<\/a>, and Mizengo Pinda Campus College<\/a> at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), respectively.<\/p>\n

This initiative, known as Women in Tech & AI, is a collaboration between the OCP Foundation<\/a> and the Ai Movement<\/a> at Mohamed VI Polytechnic University.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The program’s goal is to empower 150 African women who are passionate about technological innovation and artificial intelligence. These women are being trained in the skills and knowledge required to create solutions that effectively address the African continent’s various challenges. These issues include healthcare, education, social issues, agriculture, security, and the environment, which contribute to the growth and transformation of Africa.<\/p>\n

Participants in the summer school come from a variety of backgrounds, united by their passion for technology and AI. The cohort is made up of exceptional entrepreneurs, dedicated researchers, accomplished engineers, and motivated professionals who are all determined to make a positive difference in their communities. With 34 participants from 11 different African countries, the program benefits from a diverse range of experiences and expertise.<\/p>\n
