A Story from Margreth

MY LIFE AT SOKOINE UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE

My name is Margreth Malongo, a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Informatics at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in Morogoro. I joined my bachelor degree (BSc in Informatics) right after I graduated from my diploma studies in Information Technology here at the Sokoine University of Agriculture.

My life at the university has been full of different life experience ranging from academic to social. I’ve been learning from them and as part of my life and thanks to the almighty God, they have been a great source of my strength and have been contributing a lot in shaping me toward my future.

I had been dreaming a lot of becoming one of the experts in the information technology (IT) and basing on the quality of education provided by the Sokoine University of Agriculture both in practical and theory studies; I was very excited to apply for the bachelor degree just for my competence in the field. In fact, I have come to realize that every success requires struggling. In my university life, I’ve been struggling a lot in many things to succeed. Here are some of them.

My Own Plan of Study: According to my opinion, everything is very simple when you have a good plan in your life, and every success needs a good plan. Although plans fail sometimes, but that should not mean the end of struggles for the success, rather an opportunity for planning again and going harder. Along with this, being patience and exploring a lot on various ways of accomplishing an ambition are the key things to make you successful and reach your destination.

In my studying: Every weekday, I don’t have classes so I spend most of my time on group discussions and conducting different IT Practical activities such as software installations and maintenances, computer maintenance and troubleshooting, and networking. This helps me widen my experience and knowledge. These activities help me earn money when I do them for other people.

During the night, I spend my time in private studies through reading books and surfing the internet just to get more than what has been taught in the class.

My free time: During my free time, I involve myself in run small businesses inside and outside the campus for a living. I sell AKILI biscuits made of banana, and supply peanut butter as well. This also contributes much to my financial welfare for my life at the university.

On Sunday, I go to church in the morning. I’m a Christian by religion so I go worship, attending some religious based classes, as well as performing few activities in the church if they happen. I’m very proud of my religion and I always try my best to be as close as possible to my almighty God because, from the religious point of view, I depend on God for everything.

MY FUTURE EXPECTATION AFTER COMPLETION OF BSc. INFORMATICS

After my study at Sokoine University of Agriculture, I will find a job suitable for the area of my expertise where I will work while improving my knowledge and skills. I also wish to study Master’s degree and even going further in order to become more skillful and professional in my expertise. I will be happy and more thankful if I will make it to the higher education levels as I have always admired.
