Academic Profile

Mawazo Magesa holds a PhD in Information and Communication Sciences and Engineering from The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, Arusha, Tanzania in 2019, a MSc. Computer Science from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 2010 and a BSc. Computer Engineering and Information Technology from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 2004.

Teaching Subjects and Research Interests

Dr. Magesa has been teaching courses in the following areas: Micro-Computers and Applications, Computer Programming, Database Concepts and Design, Object Oriented Design and Programming (C++, Java), Web Programming and e-Learning technologies.

His research areas include ICT for Development and Educational technologies

Dr. Magesa has been involved in the following Projects:

  • Digital Literacy and Misinformation among Smallholder Farmers in Tanzania – on going
  • Enhancing Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Sustainability in Higher Education in Africa Project (EEIS-HEA)
  • Freshwater Biodiversity Information System for Sustainable Conservation of Rufiji River Basin in Tanzania Project
